Super Freaky!

Hail fellow Conan fans!

When Rick James released his 6th studio album, Throwin’ Down, back in 1982, it got me wondering if his intentions with respect to the album cover design were to capitalize on the media attention surrounding Conan the Barbarian and the subsequent release of the movie that very same year.

Food for thought.

Interesting to note, James was apparently a fan of Kiss, and that axe bass guitar he’s holding was originally designed for Gene Simmons and manufactured by Kramer Guitars (and just to be clear on that point, it was never Gene’s guitar, Rick bought one of his very own from Kramer).
