More Conan in Brazil! Part 6!
Although likely better known for his phenomenal artwork on a slew of other comic characters from the Marvel universe such as The Incredible Hulk, Amazing Spider-man, X-Men, and The New Avengers, Brazilian artist Mike Deodato, Jr. does have some Conan credits to his name – no sequential Conan comics that I’m aware of, but he is responsible for several covers from The Savage Sword of Conan in Brazil (“A Espada Selvagem de Conan O Bárbaro”) in the late 90’s!
Here are a couple of my personal favorites…
I spotted this Conan-esque pic by Mike over on his blog, in a post entitled “Dream Projects…”, with this description: “it would be nice to draw something in this style below for Marvel. They don't have Conan anymore, so maybe a Ka-zar story.”
Nice! Hey, Dark Horse would be lucky to have you Mike, so if you ever get tired of Marvel…although you’re going to have to wait until Cary Nord takes care of his new Conan business first…hmm…on second thought, there’s room enough for both of you!
I also also spotted this Conan by Mike over on the Comic Art Community (link), and he's lookin' pretty pissed off about something...
If you want to learn more about this truly prolific comic book creator, check out GlassHouseGraphics.com for a goldmine of pics, info, videos, and links to much, much more of the same!
Lastly, check out these larger versions of all of Mike’s Savage Sword covers!
