I am planing to sue FBI although my case has been just pending for one year. I would like to know if there are any successful cases in Philadelphia region. Thanks.
There are a lot of successful cases in Eastern PA district. Cao v. Upchurch; Song v. Klapakis come to mind.

There is a spillover of 22000 visas from FB to EB starting Sep 01 2008. Does anybody know how this spillover is divided between EB1/EB2/EB3?
Can we expect 28.6% of this spillover in EB3? Just like we get 28.6% of annual quota?
Yes, AFAIK the FB spillover is added to the base quota and then divided between the ranks. At least I hope DoS and USCIS don't mess up with this calculation.
BTW: Where were you able to find this information?

I do not believe that fixing the immigration issue is high on the presidential agenda - especially since the effort is to tie the illegal immigration with legal immigration package!!! We've spent all the money and time in doing the right thing and unfortunately, it looks like we'll be spending more money and make USCIS and Immigration lawyers' bank account fatter!!!
However, the take away from the debate is Obama seems to realize that immigration isn't responsible for all econonomic doldrums - atleast they realize that!!! And there are many legal immigrants who ended up being illegal for things out their control and lack of funds!!! In a way its good, but the bad news is legal immigrants have a long long way to go - and there is no telling when the tide will turn against us!!!
And in this slow economy, its hard to maintain the EAD status - given the dreaded USCIS policies on job changes!!!

So you made use of this opportunity and you are asking others not to do what the law allows them to?...
fyi.. I am an EB2 I candidate and fyi… I did not port but I will not stand in the way of people wanting to get out of the clutches of those employers who act cheap.
Please read back and point out where have I expressed my discontent for date porting?
Also, I would not stand in their way but I am trying to express the fact that they themselves chose to agree to the terms in the offer letter. Let me clear out that it stands for every candidate who wanted to apply in a higher priority group be it EB3 or EB2.

I might be wrong, but I think EB2 India came only uptil April 2004.
And the next month (July) EB2 India became current. That is when visa numbers were issued to already pcoessed Sep 2004 cases and approved.

So far from the poll results I see that most of us are here by choice ( though we are put thru GC waits). no matter what we will try to stay here until we reach our personal breaking point which would tigger us to look at alternatives.
Someone here asked what independence and freedom has to do with the Quit America thing. Most of the immigrant community feels that they are not given access to lot of things due to restrictions in their visas and unpredictable GC process. And the inconvenience and trouble their familes go through. With that in prespective I am thinking that we have lost atleast some of our freedom and independence.
This reason for this poll is to also make people think .

Are you drunk tonight or just kidding me? :)
I really did think it uptil tonight. I am still hoping you are right because it means that there is no GC cap on US MS. See there is a cap on H1B for US MS.
My drinking days are over. Can't drink any more.
I am a moron. I beat the system to get the degrees. I should be in the Ag jobs pool.

Property prices will soften worldwide. Though as someone pointed out many purchases in India are not credit based, so it may not be as bad there as there would be limited forced selling, though from what I have heard sales have and will slow markedly, another point to consider is that India has a population pressure like nowhere else in the world, as long as people can buy they will continue to do so.
It is also the case that the Indian economy is very much dependent on the US economy as much of the exports are to the USA, but the domestic economy is stronger than China. India can and perhaps will spend their 300 Billion dollar reserves in this down cycle for infrastructure development projects which should keep the domestic economy going.
An interesting thing is that the Indian Rupee is falling vis a vie the Dollar. I've heard it is because of hedge funds and other investors liquidating Indian assets to bring them back to the US where they have more pressing needs in a rapidly deleveraging system.
I would say that Property prices in India have adjusted downward by 15% or so already and will perhaps go another 10% but maybe not much more. I'm also hearing that the bigger hit is in the above 35 lakh properties, below that prices are holding up better.
Additionally if you are planning to buy from your savings/borrowings in the USA then you could benefit from the exchange rate, which is already nearly 25% better than a few months ago. Especially if you consider your situation shaky in the USA, it is an option worth considering. Given the US authorities can't seem to make up their minds whether they want us here, I can't see the sense in buying homes here, atleast buying there, you can ride out a market.

Good Info OP!
Good development. Lets see whether they follow up on this or not.
CIR is difficult due to political landscape. piecemeal approach has the
most likelihood of success especially it is attached to FB category.
On the downside, such bills are tabled every year and they die a natural death.
Visa recapture since 1992 might greatly reduce the backlog.

Cheque clearance is a good indication.
In other bills, I'd be happy if checks doesnt get cashed... :p But in this case, I'll be praying every day and checking bank balance to see if the checks are cashed...

Rajgopal,
It is taking about 8 to 9 business days to process. This does not include the courier time. For my wife's passport we got it after two days because VFS handed the passport to Blue Dart after the cut off time at Chennai. We had our interview on 7th of Dec and we got our PP's on 20th and 22nd. I would not recommend any changes to the airline tickets until you get your PP in hand.
Hope this information helps.

Do you think the drive would have reached its original goal yesterday/early today without the January visa bulletin retrogressing us even further...?
I have my doubts about that... :)
And how far in the past would we need to retrogress to get another funding drive done...?
jazz
I dont think theres any doubt in the value iv is providing - selling it is the issue. I can be proved wrong in a month but the ongoing funding drive is kind of a ray of hope that people will be willing to give both time & money to help themselves and others.

Hi I am a physician in Oregon and my parents are visiting too in July. I called Kaiser regarding this, and this is what I was told.
1. they can get insurance since Kaiser does not need an SSN for the application.
2. Every Plan has a deductible $, an out of pocket maximum $, and a co-insurance $ amount.
So,
Plan A: Deductible 2500, Co-insurance 22% of all inpatient cost upto max of $22,000.
Plan B: Deductible 6000, Co-insurance 50% of all inpatient cost upto max of $50,000.
Essentially none of these plans are a 'good deal'. But remember its easier to pay back a loan of 22k - 50k than to pay back 100-200k.
Also since Kaiser is an HMO, and has its own facilities in the west coast and Hawaii, 'accepting insurance' is not a problem.

Skinning the wheel is too easy, all you have to do is plop the graphic down and set the blending accordingly. Leaving the wheel stock makes it harder because you gotta get the elliptical out.
