    They do care about employees. They just can't handle immigration and visa issues. It is too complicated for a lot of employees. For a lot of employers, the term H1b visa or sponsership gives "jitters".

    While a lot of employers look at things from their perspective, they do understand all issues that you face. It all depends on how important you are and if your absence would make a difference. If you are irreplacable, and employer thinks they must keep you at any cost, then they will do it, or you have to take care of yourself.

    Thanks, you are right. It's like the water bucket analogy. Put your hand inside the bucket, and then take it out, and you won't see much difference in the water level. That's how expendable we are to our employers.

    another common tactic is to bounce checks on pretext that signature on check does not match that on signature card.

    one more is to freeze the accoutn for inactivity > 90 days.

    I have been victim on more than 1 occasion for each of above tactics. Each time its annoyance ( writing letter. nothing gets done online), fees charged and increased blood pressure.

    Unfortunately switching costs are high due to time taken to open new accounts and there is no guarantee that others are any better.


    You are right. I was also a victim of account being frozen. It is really frustrating to see that your account has been frozen when you have to urgently send money. They do not even notify the customers before the account is frozen.

    The replies that you get for your questions are standard replies or something which does not answer your questions. You have to go back and forth a couple of times to get your job done.

    Glad to know that they are not a monopoly now and customers have more choices.

    ...but remember it can be pure coincidence that your letter to 1600 Pennslyvania made any difference. Moreso when the namecheck and the approval..all happened within 2 weeks of the letter !

    Anyways no harm trying any and all legal ways !

    They can move the Dates in both Categories while giving preference to EB1 and EB2 first.


    You are purely thinking about your perspective and neglecting the purpose of GC for the country.
    To qualify in EB1/Eb2/EB3 depends on some factors:

    EB1: Extra ordinary candidate, may or may not be represented by employer
    EB2: Senior Level: Job duties have to justify need for advance degree candidate (or BS + 5yrs exp) and then candidate must qualify too
    EB3: 16 years of education (ideally) with degree in related field (lets talk IT for now)

    Now current status and its cause:

    EB1: - No jumping, no gaming system : Hence NO DELAYS

    EB2: - Good chunk with genuine apps, some gaming system where applicant qualify but not the job, some gaming system and taking very high risk by showing BS +5 yrs (they actually don't have +5 factor), other jumping the category (legally :D) but taking very high risk for RFE

    Result: Got retrogressed

    EB3: Good chunk with genuine apps, some unfortunate ppl who do qualify but job doesn't support experience or higher pay, lot of gaming system with BS (3yr) in non Computer/IT and showing 1yr certifications etc, and everybody who does not qualify for EB1/EB2, lot of nurses (I heard someone said nurses in back)
    Result: Severely retrogressed with no hopes in horizon

    Now lets look at market demand ( we know supply of apps is pretty darn good)
    EB 1: Very very high : general pay range starts from $250k+ and goes up to $400k for fresher (PHDs) and in upper $150k for Int'l Managers

    EB 2:: High, general pay starts high $80k and goes somewhere $140k+,

    EB 3:: good, starts from upper $40k and goes somewhere $65-70k, (lots of job and lots of applicant)

    Now lets take a look at Supply of Apps (Assumption 1M apps already in system):
    EB1: say 50K (5%) - (fast processing - Express lane)
    EB2: may be 200K (20%) - (sounds good on paper but in realty slow but moving)
    EB3: everything else (75%) (OMG :eek: stampede : frustration with no visible progress)

    Now lets checkout preference:
    Preference from perspective of country, what benefits country the most:

    EB1: ohh : lets get them in ASAP
    EB2: yes yes we welcome you please come in (after some long wait)
    EB3: OMG its flood of ppl, use extra strong flood gate and keep them out as long as possible, and let them in with very low rate


    Now This:
    Like everything in the world, the fewer the qty the hotter the product,
    the abundance kills the market, applies perfectly with EB2, in 2000-2001 it used to take 12-24 months and you have GC in hand, and now .. may be by my kids turns 16yrs, and EB3: 2000-2001 use to take about 3 yrs and but right then we started getting flood, and thanks to 200K H1bs in 2001-2.

    End of the day EB1/EB2/EB3 all are immigrant and are victim of broken system (I’m sure EB1 disagree here with me because they enjoy express lanes), it need fix but is it high priority for law makers or we just think it is?
    how desperate we are to provide help? or we are just good at reading/writing here and using IV and other forums for venting out? ask yourself

    The list goes on and my analysis goes on, but these are just my thoughts thinking out loud,
    and trying to think for a solution.... Next thought -> Solution, I will post in coming days

    Though they run for non-profit.

    So public schools Elem/Middle/High , still have to go thru nornal H1B process for teachers, have to wait for OCT1, start date.

    If a new H1B visa application does not run against the regular quota, I don't think he has to wait till Oct. When my H1B got approved (under quota), I started in 2 months - February in my case.

    People, since Aman and lets not forget other core members also who I am sure have racked up a lot of out of pocket cost we as a community should gather funds for administrative cost also. GC is not just Aman's/ pappu/logiclife and others core member's dream...its OUR dream, and its not fair that in spite of knowing the time and money spent by the core members we donot share the burden.
    So here is what I am thinking, there are 21000+ members of which I think 10,000 can be considered the real people (I am sure there are more..but a real conservative estimate) if we all pitch in $10 for administrative cost I think it would not put any dent in our pockets and this collective effort would not create a financial burden on any of the core members.

    Even though IV is not for profit, there is no rule which says that you cannot have funds for administrative cost. In fact one rule of thumb to give to any NOP charitable organization like united way etc is to look at their admin cost. Why not IV have that.
    Any thoughts!

    Lets not make this a core team fight only...people are jumping in the boat and asking all and any question they can..and when it comes to giving money they will say that..oh I cant no money...I am not a rich guy my self but managed to give $200 and now signed up for $50 yesterday...looking at what a lot of people are doing I think I might have to go to $100.

    This is good news..But the Damage is already been done..in the past.....

    I guess DOL had some 300K cases pending when Backlog center started..It adjudicated some 150K till now.( Rough Estimate) and still 150 K left.

    Even if considering 10000 Labors been substituted till now ...Imagine the wait period for rest of us. I wish this law was enacted, when they started Backlog centers..

    Anyway..something is better than nothing....Hope for the Best...for new laws regarding SKIL,CIR Etc..atleast filing 485 when Visa numbers are not available..

    Do they delay even for H4's these days? Want to know the average turn around time to make travel plans.

    If IV can outline how it is going to help, that would really make many people come out of the shelves. However, though we talk so much, people are still scared to identify themselves against the employer. However, they may be ready to outline everything against the specific employer as an anonymous person. we got to deal with a situation where people are ready but anonymously. How can we handle this.

    A problem very similar to marriage breakups. People do not want to deal with the aftermaths of a breakup but willing to put up with crap from spouse.

    GC being tied to employer has created all this situation.

    If people are coming forward to complain - IV can help interace with auhorities, media etc..... COntact IV with specific issues.

    I just submit my story to the obama-biden transition team.

    IV members please visit the website link provided by IV and submit your stories to the transition team.

    Hope they hear us and do something to get some kind of administrative relief for employment based legal immigrants.

    For India/China both EB-2 and EB-3 are heavily backlogged and unless the new administration recaptures lost visa numbers due to bureacracy, it will be
    impossible to catchup the old backlog pending since 2001.

    I submitted usps money orders for I-485 fees. Filed on july 2nd.

    Any way to find out if those money orders are enchashed or no?
    I did try google search and so far no answer.

    I am not aware of anyway to check if money order is enchased or not, because, I think, you have to pay money upfront when you buy money order. However, I can be wrong.
    Why didn't you just send the check?
