I had the same question. Can anyone please explain inspite of the above problem, how are the prices for apartments in Hyderabad are so high ?
The only thing I can think of is that everybody is buying for themselves not as an investment.
Look at the previous post. Its a myth that NRIs are buying up all these high end properties.
Indian real estate market is fueled by the black money india. They are using NRIs as a facade. Investing in realestate legitimizes that money. Now they don't care how much rent they are getting. It makes no business sense at all. You and me cannot comepete with them.

It is not just wife's work permit problem. If you don't have GC and your kids are entering the college, they are not eligible for any scholarships are student loans. So you have to bear all the expenses from your pocket or you have to take a personal loan at a higher interest from some financial institution
will supposedly be resolved via the proposed 'DREAM' Act.. yeah right everything is a big pipe dream...

Plenty of sites.. to discuss this stuff. Lets keep this forum only for immigration related issues.
You can go to Online Coupons | Cash Back - FatWallet.com (http://www.fatwallet.com) (Finance forum) or bogleheads forum to discuss specifics.

it doesnt hurt to believe, you are 9 months away...:-)
As the guy who posted it said, this is a normal process....Consulates will know 3 to 4 days before...
That is correct, 9 months and then I will return to my country for good.
I am waiting for the day when we get the GC , we will tear it into pieces and throw in front of consulate.
Cheers

Hi Guys
I have been on IV for last 3 yrs almost & I recall my days when only way to get help on immigration was talking to the lawyers. Since I joined IV this thing defintely changed...& I feel that I am attached to a community trying to achieve a common goal and common good. IV has done a splendid job in getting the community united at the grassroots ....even some of initiators of the group have got their GCs, I still see them involved, which is a great thing. Why blame IV for the legislation failures? Blame congress for it & even 75% of Americans feel Congress is not doing their job.
Nothing is perfect in life, in market place & in the world. Also sense of purpose of service may differ for everyone & at different times. I treat myself as a consumer of services provided by IV & I have rated the services I get from IV at www.IDNTITI.com (Immigration Voice is getting a score of 8.7/10 for the services I get from it) I invite everyone to come and rate Immigration voice.
Now a brief on IDNTITI.com, We are positioned as an Identity & Reputation management company. We are a fully user generated content site, so you might not see much data at this time, but nevertheless see enough data to understand the product.
The following steps will help you navigate the site easily:
Invite your community to provide feedback about you.
Search for people you know, if they are not there, you can create and rate them
Search for Schools, Colleges or Companies you know, if you dont find them, you can create and rate them.
If you dont find parameters you wish to rate an entity on, please create the parameter and rate the entity on it.
Connect with your community members and see their activity
As you contribute your feedback, the entitys reputation is built and the site provides rich demographically distilled analytics back to users that can help them in researching and making their decisions easily.

You get a life you coward.
You posted junk and did not do anything on IV in the last 1 year. Now suddenly when your dates are not available you come here to teach others to get a life.
Why don't you get a life and go back to India and get a life there. If you are happy in Canada, then be happy there. Do not teach us. For all of us you are simply a coward who ran away from problems rather than face and fight it. And why do you care about Fraud etc.. if you are in Canada driving Taxi!!!!!
You seem to be an anti-immigrant to me. We have seen many in the last few days and they were rightfully kicked out.
Are u a crazy ??? He is not teaching you (Looks like you need some teaching anyway)
Just a question , how are you fighting the immigration war.. (You fight a war , and solve a problem)
Anyone has the right to express his opinion. You start calling people coward..
If you have nothing in India to cherish for, Doesn't mean that other people dont have it either?

Paskal, You are right - I do not understand. But mostly I cannot understand because as an organisation - you do not explain. Frankly, all I can do is register my disappointment at both your response and your attitude. While I get it that IV is actively involved in doing things over the years aimed at resolving this issue, I might feel that I could respect and maybe even understand these efforts better if IV kept its website up to date and all members who sign in updated on what's happening.
I have often seen threads on this site that have members complaining that IV is not doing anything - to which invariably the response is that one should join the donor forum. On the other hand we get newsletters from admin that ask up to tighten our belts etc. - and get more involved. Well, that cannot happen unless IV provides more updated information on what IV is actually doing, veiled references to behind the scenes activity and years of hard work are not enough to involve all those who have signed up here to become 'more involved'.
As for this discussion going nowhere I could not agree more - you see to have an open discussion or indeed debate - there must be at least 2 willing participants. And since you have already decided that you do not have time for the Qs of a mere non-paying member of this forum, I do not expect any better.
By the way, the way ahead is not to close doors, but to welcome questions and encourge those on this forum with curiosity to be more active. More often than not, I have seen that those who Q on this forum, are mocked, ignored, and treated as if they are wasting CORE's time. Sad for a forum that hopes to involve a wider audience in this issue.
Thanks!!
Raji
As a new user, I would try to understand what IV stands for, What political forces IV is against and have some political wisdom before I start asking IV to disclose everything in a public forum. There are valid reasons why IV is not revealing everything in a public forum. If you are interested in resolving your own GC issues and that of others on this forum, you should not ask IV to disclose all the strategies and thoughts in a public form.
There are many IV members who are old members of IV who trusts IV core leadership blindly even though we don't know IV strategies or thought process completely. One thing many of us can assure you is that IV core works with best of our interests in mind, they are a bunch of dedicated and smart people who understand how to plan our advocacy effort wisely.
I would suggest you trust IV core leadership with their advice and directions as it is better for our own interests.

I called them and sent emails to local reps.
Got a question though .
We have these 3 bills in House. Thats fine. But what about Senate. There is only 1 bill in Senate. Should we also persuade some senator to place similar bills there ?

Hello IVians,
As we all await our GCs, I thot we can explore some investment vehicles.
Does anyone here have experience with commodity trading?
Can we trade in commodities on H1 or L1 status?
Is it too risky like forex trading?
Who are the online brokers offer commodity trading?
Is there a minimum account balance / trade required every month or so?
Pls share your experience. Thanks!
Commodity trading is probably the most "fundamental driven" (as opposed to being driven by chartists) out of all trading activities I have seen. So theoretically, you are at the least disadvantage in commodities market against the big guys if you know your fundamentals right.
However, the very reason there is less technical trading in that market - lack of liquidity - again works against the average Joe. The most liquid of them - the Crude Oil future in Nymex - has a minimum lot size of 10,000 barrels - worth about $60k now. Any smaller sized derivatives (think of miNY futures etc) - come with significant liquidity or transaction cost penalties.
All in all, I personally think that a rational investor should prefer a market with the following criteria:
1. As much liquidity as possible. A liquid market will make stop loss the least painful. If you are a rational investor - stop loss is your lifeline.
Commodities market is not very liquid. The most liquid market in the world is FX - followed by equities.
2. As little special advantages for the big guys as possible.
The worst offender here is FX. Since these things are not traded in a listed exchanges - the big guys don't have to publish anything other than the bid and ask prices. Talk about a transparent price discovery. . Commodities market - specially the electricity market - used to have a lot of the opacity which benefited the big guys a few years ago. Some of the recent regulations have done away with much of this. I have personally worked on creating some of these so called "Chinese walls" mandated by new regulations.
That's all of my 2 cents. :)

they are mostly due to computers and the the brains behind them, like us.
You should have seen a stagnating US before the 90's. Didn't know what to do or where to turn.
It is my general feeing. Do anyone wonder what makes this country great? Gigantic? World Leader? Inspite of feeling expressed by arupkumarsaha.
It it just 'maya'?
Bureau of Labor Statistics (http://www.bls.gov/lpc/home.htm)
Wondering why USA citizens does not learn ERP/CRM applications when there is such high demand in these fields . Any thoughts ? May be they are pure lazy ? May be they think that if they are kind enough to study BS/MS that autiomatically entitles them to such jobs and they need not to put up any extra mental effort to learn some functional stuff .

There's a book put out by three 'scholars' from the Manhattan Institute with an innocuous title and everything else inside it anything but! The debate is being pushed to dangerous new grounds - while many openly say that all of America's immigration problems began in the 60's, code for colored people allowed in legally, one author said it was 'wrong' to link opening up immigration to all races (by abolishing hemispherical quota) and the civil-rights movement. Ofcourse he didn't say why. They always have to make a big point about Kennedy predicting that immigration wouldn't surge with the 60's act but why the 'surge' is a bad thing in itself is never fully explained - making use of hazy data and cause and effects that are highly diffuse to be really a true 'cause/effect' is the scholarly methodology used. And ofcourse he also argued that previous waves of immigration are different from the current ones but when the argument is brought up that immigrants eventually assimilate suddenly history is no guidance - in other words don’t look at history now! Given the complete lack of spine or commonsense of IV browsers, one can only hope this is just an ugly cycle that plays itself out and decent people recover their sensibility

@hpandey thanks for standing by me, and more so i will not bow down even if INS were tracking me down , what have i got to lose, its the time for the consultants to lose his business and his money, and i will not stop here as i said , i will make sure google search on him always opens the blacklist page before his company website.
@fide-champ i have tried options that could be open to me till the brink and believe u me if they were there i would be the first to grab it, i have tried attorneys, i have tried references, i have tried many options , given 15 interviews of companies and sat on that interview table from 9 to 5:30 PM , but only after realizing that it wasnt going anywhere and i had blown my dough i realized , its better that i leave.
@Robert Kumar yeah ofcourse, even if they were to what could possibly go wrong more than what it is right now, not afraid buddy not at all
If a company is willing to hire you for an available position, they can still hire you and file a I-129 with consular processing option, just like your current H1. Once thats approved, you will have to appear for a VISA interview again in your home country (at the consulate mentioned on your application). Whether you will be given a VISA or not will depend on the documentary evidence submitted and your H1 history. Be prepared to answer questions regarding your current H1 saga which will definitely raise some flags on your current company at the Consular post as well but unfortunately could have negative impact on all current genuine employees at the company, if your current employer is found guilty. You can claim ignorance, but there is a chance that you could be banned as well for VISA fraud (paying for H1).

I went for the visa stamping in chennai consulate on Dec 5th. After a few questions, the officer granted me the visa and said i will receive the passport in a few days. But so far haven't yet received my passport. Does anyone know what is happening? is anyone faced such situation before? I heard about this admin processing and delays in stamping but i thot the officer would usually give out some kind of form to you during the interview if your case goes thru such processing.
The web-site says we can send an e-mail to the consulate regarding any questions for NIV if it's pending more than 5 days. Has anybody done that and what would be the response?
Please respond. i am running short of time as i have to travel back to US soon.

I've filed for my 140 with a substitute labor in July of 2007 under EB 3. The labour had a priority date in 2002.
My company has around 50+ employees and has been doing good from over 12 years. All the employees are being paid as promised from the start.
I joined the company in Jan of 2006 and was being paid in time and as promised from day 1.
There was an RFE raised on my 140 filed with substitution with rgrds to Ability to Pay. The proferred wage mentioned in the Labour was 75K and my company had the ability to pay in 2002, 2003 and 2004 based on their financial documents except for the year 2005.
In 2005 the company started a new division and hired several people, basically they were restructuring their company for the future and there net or gross whatever income was in -ve, They spent a lot of money on training, hiring etc.., which are reflected in their financial documents.
They were back too good numbers in 2006 and 2007 while i was working for them. In 2006 my W-2 show salary less then the proferred wage in the labour and at that point of time the company nor myself had any idea that we would substitute this X labour for me, But the companies numbers were good to support the difference of amount in 2006.
In the year 2007, i had a good hike, but was still below the proferred wage but only by 3K, and again the company had enuf finances to support the difference of amount.
Starting of 2008, i got another good hike and am way above the proferred wage.
Now the RFE was raised for Ability to pay from 2002 to current date, the current date being March 2008 when the RFE was raised.
My company submitted all the docs required and for the RFE and also clearly explained the reasons for the numbers being bad in 2005. They submitted my w-2's for 2006, 2007 and salary stubs for Jan and Feb of 2008 along with their tax returns, etc from 2002 to 2007.
Now the Response has been file on March 28th and am awaiting the decision, has anybody faced any similar situations and what could be the results you guys predict.
Would the USCIS consider only 2 months of my salary stubs in 2008 to qualify my case as being paid more than the proferred wage or would they scrutinize every other thing....
Any replies are appreciated.... Thanks

On March 30, my wife was issued a RFE for her incomplete medicals (TB test & Vaccination). Yesterday our attorney submitted the completed medical reports and today I received an email from 'CRIS' acknowleding the receipt of our response and resumption of the case. Checked the Online status and it also showed the today's LUD. Will keep the IV posted with any further development on our cases.
Here is the text of that email (seems very generic):

What is this lawsuit? Do you have info?

Then there is no need to worry. FBi check is valid only for a certain period so that is the reason why they would have ordered for other check. Don't Worry you will get your greencard. But when your PD is current open a service request. i did mine when my Pd is current and got my Green card.
