Red Hot Riding Hood —
Far many years, I've wanted to re-imagine Tex Avery's 'Red Hot Riding Hood' in my own overdeveloped Ultra Fem style. I've never taken the time to sit down and do it. I certainly don't have the time for it now, but I did this hot sketch this week.
It's inspired by this screen cap from 'Little Rural Riding Hood,' which I think is the funniest of the Red Hot cartoons, and the only one where this amazing still appears.
Red is usually attributed to Tex Avery, and of course he did direct the cartoons, but her designer and animator was the amazing Preston Blair. All my life, I've thought Blair was also the designer of Tinker Bell and the sexy centaur girls in Fantasia, but I was wrong on both counts. Turns out Marc Davis created Tinker Bell (who easily belongs in the world's sexiest toons category). The Fantasia beauties were handled by a whole staff of cartoonists, including, interestingly enough, Walt Kelly.
What I ultimately plan is a series of three posters, a triptych, featuring Jessica Rabbit, Red Hot Riding Hood and a third sexy character, which I've never been able to decide on. Holli Wood is the best contender.
After that, I want to create a whole series of Jessica Rabbit portraits, in which she wears the costumes of other cartoon girls, starting with Pebbles Flintstone, Judy Jetson and Daphne Blake. Then maybe Jan from Space Ghost. Can you dig it?
Oh! And Penelope Pitstop! Then Josie! What am I thinking!
