I was looking at your post and looks like your I-140 got approved in 2 months. Whereas the I-140 processing is going on for March 2007. Good that your got cleared.
I have my I-140 filed on March 2008 and still says pending.
Just wondering what order they process I-140 applications.

Friends, think of this way:
In life, if everything was given on a platter - with zero struggle, you would never understand the value of anything.
The bulletin has bad news for the retrogressed (plus the weather looks gloomy and winter is fast approaching in the US). How do we fight it?
a) Create local chapters and target the local media. Garner support via local libraries, newspapers etc. Just view the world as infinite possibilities and make the push. Drops make a Ocean.
b) Have faith in democracy. (Ironic???)
c) Do not put your life on hold because of GC. There are tons of things to learn (various culture, food, books, movies etc).
Cheer up!

I have been interacting with the murthy staff (not the lawyer but other staff members like paralegals, receptionists,client rep, etc. I can say my experience is not that great. They never return your calls. Also I had some queries which they did not clearly answer.
Has anyone else had not so good experience with them?

I filed for 485/765/131 etc on 7/19 via overnight to Nebraska
They received it the next day 7/20

But I have not received any receipt notice yet.

Then selected options 1, 2, 2, 6, 2, 2, 1
Someone came online immediately.

She said that if no checks have been cashed, and because of the frontlog, I have to wait atleast 90 days.
After which I can then start an enquiry about why I have not received a receipt notice.
So I am going to wait 90 days.

There are deals that my attorney can make to get me a sentence that does not affect my GC process.... It is all negotiations that happens .. was in Jail for a day..... a man was charged for 1.5 years in prison .. he has been negotiating through a lawyer... and they are ready to give him 1 month in prison...
I have to do what I have to do !!

I see a lot of people are getting Canadian immigration these days. Isn't there a rule that after getting the green card you have to land in canada within 1 year or you loose your perm residency status? The reason I am asking is that I am planning to start canadian GC but want to finish my full quota of 6 yrs on H1 (3 yrs left right now ) in US. So, if I file now and (let's say) get my GC within 1 yr, plus one year to land; means that I have to leave US before my 6 yr term expires. Is that right?

That is incorrect. You have to land once your application is approved. You normally get 6 months to land. But once you r done with landing you can leave the country. However, you will have to give a canadian address so that they can ship you your PR card. (I gve my friends address). Once u get ur PR card its valid for 5 years. In order to maintain status you have to live 2 years in canada in the 5 year period... which means you can live outside canada for the remaining 3 years!

I am sure it would be a big deal for you to advance your wedding. But if you can, that would be the best thing to do in the current situation. On a pessimistic thought, chances are that retrogression will only get worse in the forth-coming months. This may be one of those very rare opportunities which you would hate to miss

I am not sure about your situation. If she wants to be here longer, the best way is to postpone the divorce till GC done. It depends on the PD and caterogy. Moving to F1, findinga job and starting a GC again...is a heruculian task...

First thing for an employee to start working is filling the I-9 form.
For that he need SSN and other info.
If he didn't give I-9 to employer, he cannot claim for the salary.
He is illegal in this country right now. If he is more than 180 days, he is liable for 10 year ban/blacklist.

It seems clear to me that the Repulican house feel like they are in trouble, they have been in control of the house for the last 12 yrs and that too for the last 6 with a Republican president.
Right now a lot of things are not going well and the American people are not all that thrilled with the goings on. Traditionally the House has been with the democrats and the stars seem to be aligning with them despite the democrats not being able to come up with any einsteinian ideas.
The Republicans appear to have decided that Immigration is one of the few issues they can use to mobilize their conservative base, much like the way they used the gay marriage issue in 2004.
The irony of this all is that if it backfires, a democratic house and this republican president will pass a bill very close to the senate version and the republican house will be left with egg on their faces in more ways than one. The resulting bill will be far "worse" for the conservatives than anything they can negotiate right now. It is unfortunate that they have chosen this path.
As I said before I do believe something will pass this year, now it is just more likely after the elections, I am just hoping it will have something in it for us legal immigrants. The worst news I have heard all year is the pence-kay bailey hutchinson proposal. That would favour Latin illegals and screw all else. That is the type of disaster I am afraid of from the republicans in a last ditch effort pre elections.

This info is posted on the USCIS website. If your application is still at NSC then your info should have been entered, but if it was transferred to TSC then you have to wait

I know the lawyers are supposed to be working for us etc but thats not the way it has worked between me and Fragomen so far. Sometimes they appear concerned and want to help answer your questions but generally they don't appear keen to go out of their way to help out. I will contact some lawyer though to find a way out if I can't find answers here.
Is there any reason you have to go back to them for this issue? There are tons of lawyers out there that can help you.

Hi friends,
I got a letter from BEC stating that I need to prove that I possess some skills for my Labour to be approved. The skills are Java, JSP and Servlet.
I am a Masters' degree holder from US and a Sun Certified Java Programmer.
I did courses during my MS related to Java, JSP and Servlet.
I am really perplexed why the DOL is asking me to prove my Java skills!!!
Will they accept my certification and course work syllabus? If not, how can I prove that.
It is really dissapointing since I have been waiting for Labour for 4+ years. It was filed under EB3.
