I've already signed up for monthly contribution...and sent LogicLife's mail as a wake up call for all the fence sitters and freeloaders.
I can relate with anurakt's feelings...it's amazing how penny wise pound foolish people can get!
Come on guys, I have introduced at least 8 friends to IV and (almost) forced then to contribute :) Let's all get 2-3 members and persuade them to contribute.

Agreed lets not bash illegals in public. My point is 'legal Path' for illegals has just become almost impossible with the current congress and senate configuration.

Took about 3 weeks. I submitted everything by courier to Houston CGI. I did not get any message saying that they had recieved the passport or that they had started; after 3 weeks the return courier just magically had my new passport.

Yep...I got the same message the first time. After disconnecting and trying again, I was able to get my case status info. Try calling again after sometime.
Are they not going to give the same message that you see on the online status page? How different is the case status info going to be from the online status page? I am curious to know ... so that I can call too.

I renewed my passport under tatkal this month. I mailed application overnight on Thursday and Monday got a call from Houston that Money Order attached is less 50 than actual. I mailed balance next day overnight, it reached them on Wednesday and got my passport after 4 business days.

1) I have read some of your earlier posts on this thread and what you have primarily done is merely re-iterated what the issue is. Without any contribution or suggestion as to how to actually resolve it. And since the situation has continued to stay the same for several years due to Congressional indifference, you seem to have decided to pick on IV for all the faults with EB3 backlogs and the lack of effort therein to resolve the same. What failure are you talking about. IV is a success only problem is the success has been to a small group out of the complete EB community. What vitriol are you talking about. The slowness in the approval rate has me a little worried. In July many people got approved at within the first few days - that does not seem to have happened for the first 3 days of August so far. I'm hoping that this is just a blip and the trend picks up shortly.

Hi,
My daughter's pp expired March '06. We live in FL, so we need to apply to the Houston center.
So do we (a) apply for a new passport? or is it still 'renewal'?
(b) send renewal fees? how much - is it the same for an adult pp?
Believe me, I have searched all over, up-and-down, for any info on this specific situation (child pp, expired more than one year) but in vain :(.

My experience says it doesn't matter too much. Just attach a letter explaining that and send the fees. If you are in rush pay the highest fees or else send the lowest fees. If there is anything missing they will send the application back (at their own cost) and ask you to provide more info/fees.

Not true - a small apt is a small apt no matter what. Yes, you can live with peace of mind in a small apt, and yes you can live happily in a small apt. This does not equate to quality of life. The "quality of life" in a 4 bedroom house with back yard is greater than that in a small 650 sq ft single bedroom apt ( if you put the same person who was happy in the small apt into the 4 bedroom house - even if his happiness level remains the same, his quality of life just went up)
Nothing against someone buying a 4BR house. I respect everyone's decision to buy whatever they can afford. I had been to one of my friend's 4BR home in North East during winter and felt like being in a igloo. The heat was set at about 62 to save on heating cost!
I'd rather have a 2BR apartment (or a 3BR based on need) and have a comfortable temperature.
One can buy a home but ensure one doesn't become 'house poor'!

I was supposed to travel on 31 july to india and am considering changing my tkt to 17 aug or so....just in case...that's stupid huh?????
for someone who shouldn't have hope...why am i praying lol
eligible to file 485 before AUG 17th is your case must certify by July 31st period. eligibility is LC approval not on LC filing. if filing is considered ,in that case people who are stuck in BEC can also file before u.
