Did anybody get any update from the FOIA request??
Yes, I agree that EB3-I is past 245K. Almost all of the retrogression years have gone in getting 245k filers and out of the systems. Even then, situation is still grim.
Now this all my estimate�.
There are about 10-12 thousand EB3-I I-485 application for every year since 2002. With 3.5 thousand applications approved every year, it will take 2-3 years to move PD year by an year. To reiterate for every calendar year there will 3-4 months of real movement in PD.
Around June/July 2009 EB3-I will reach around March/April 2002 and then go back to Nov 2001 in October 09.
Hopefully FOIA result will disprove me in +ve way.

You don't need H4 Visa stamp until you plan to go abroad and it is more difficult nowadays.
Having H1 to H4 change of status within US by applying I-539 would be better. Later, you can go to India and get your H4 Visa stamp.

Hi, I know not of any option to use the VFS online process to make such a booking where both your applications are clubbed together for the exact same time slot when both your cases are separate files.
If you have used the system before, before you can even take an appointment date, you would have to fill in your passport details, HDFC receipt numbers, DS-156 & DS-157 in its entirety on multiple screens before you can actually get to the appointment date screen.
The whole process of filling up the form took a good 1 hour for us.
What YOU CAN DO is both you and your wife work on different PCs on your respective applications and when you get to the appointment screen around the same time, you can take appointment dates back to back. This is what we did and it worked with us getting dates and interview times 15 mins apart. Make sure sure you do not sit too long idly between screens or even at the end as it times out pretty fast when you get to the appointment screen.
You can take much longer time though when you are filling DS-156 and DS-157...no problem there.
Good luck with the interview process. No need to worry..Chennai IOs were nice and professional people in our experience

Will 7th year H1b extension from a New employer possible using the LC filed & I-140 from the previous employer?
If this is true then i think it makes sense to pay the additional 1k and get I-140 approved for what its worth.

I have a minor child who received FP (Code 3) before all our GC got approved. [4 months before approval]. Neither I nor my attorney paid any fees for my kid.
I think they request FP for the kid before approving their GC. In some cases, I also found that GC approved for people already did FP, but not for the kids and took some time for the USCIS to issue FP notices before approving their GC.

2. Incorrect. There are several officer schools that you can join. THere is only one school that requires you to be high school graduate and unmarried. Rest all officer schools are open for all the enlistees who are in between 18-41 years old. Check on the Army website or grab a book from a local library.
3. Incorrect. Deployment will depend on the Job you picked up. Please read my initial post on this thread.
I think one should make statement with some facts. You said in your post that one should have this in written. Can you provide any facts or information other than your commander? Also, based on my research and my personal experience. Army Recruiter's main job is to get you in the army by any means. So they will not tell you that you will be deployed for sure. Because that will discourage you not to join. So I am little suspicious about your source.
Again I am not saying that there wont be risk of deployment but the risk is associated with the MOS not with the deployment. Whole thought of joining army is risky. In that case it is a personal choice whether to go or not.

This is purely political, after bush annouced support for McCain, republicans have to do something to get more vote from labor unions or workers which are generally get along good with democratic party. The reason is , the time they have selected to bring this up. Otherwise, the firm has long history of practice, whatever happened might not be something new. But this might be a good point in current economic condition to make a political issue and attract democratic voters. I wonder why Fragoman is not issueing any statement. Does the firm already know why this happened and is in confidence that this is just a political gimick? Why leading news company like CNN is giving importance to this? Is this something coming from top? DOL looks like fearless while issuing that statement. Looks like somebody has put his hand on his head and said DO NOT WORRY. Otherwise it is quite possible that this kind of action may result in class action lawsuit. But seems nothing to be happening...

What suprises me is that while the minutemen folks (disapproved by President Geoge Bush) and the illegal aliens are so organized, why are we 100% LEGAL, so called HIGHLY EDUCATED and SKILLED immigrants not coming out in the open? We are not doing anything illegal at all. Democracy clearly preserves the right of an individual to free speech.
