I called customer service thrice and each told me that the processing time for I140 was Oct 13th and not Aug15th. Not sure if that is correct as I know many people are waiting for their 140's to be cleared including me and my husband. Can anyone else please reconfirm as I have not seen many post mid-July I140's being cleared.

wtf! that *ucks! i had no idea that i got less... gotta look at those tax files...
I think it is 600 for adults and 300 for child. You would have got 1800 if both kids have SSN.

I filed my I140 concurrently just in time for the Aug 17 '07 deadline. Got the receipt notice and thats the last I heard about it. USCIS online status check fails with "Case status retrieval failed".
I called USCIS to enquire about the status on I140 and after their reply was that my employer needs to call to find out the status. They won't tell me what the current state is. I did not try again, to see if another IO might have some different rules regarding this enquiry.

I was looking at ...it seems that NSCs data is TRUE. I can't believe that NSC is much faster now than TSC.
Some of the RNs are maybe on the way to your mailbox.
How about EAD? How long'll it take?

Please do not add more frustration and confusion to the PR limbo :). Sparky already mentioned to send the change request to the address mentioned on original ITIN letter.
After that one should check his or her own ITIN. Whole process is clearly written in original ITIN letter about what need to do upon getting SSN.
And if one follows that than he/she should not come with any additional question because the whole process is clearly written in original ITIN and does not create any confusion. And here I am wondering, still people are asking about address although Sparky clearly explained...
AND YES COMMUNICATION TO ITIN UNIT IS REQUIRED AFTER GETTING SSN BECAUSE YOUR ORIGINAL ITIN LETTER MENTIONS SO.
Take it easy my friend!

Reader of this post,
Can someone experienced with the laws of this forum explain me what it means to have a 'negative reputation' and why my post is assigned with -25 reputation points and by whom.
I fail to understand, why my post is offensive to any one to take such a action.
Thanks
Gaurav

Eventhough the salary mentioned is for future job the current pay is one of strong evidence to prove that Employer has the ablity to pay for future job. So, Employer has to pay more than mentioned in the green card application to avoid problem in gc processing
Your current salary has nothing to do with ability to pay issue. It looks like your company's tax returns was not good enough and uscis sees that company cannot pay what they state in labor.
Open MTR and borrow sometime and meanwhile jump to another company and start fresh. If your I-140 is approved, you will get 3 years extension.

I am pretty sure that the OP is an alter ego of some other IV regular who wants to time pass without affecting his 'regular' IV id.

hi
Me and my family are traveling to India in Summer and coming back in July. We have our ADVANCE PAROLE with us. I have few questions in this regard
(1) What documents I need to Carry in Order to renter to US
(2) I am currently working in Second yr of my H-1b . I have no stamp yet. I Work for University in US. Is it wise to go FOR H-1B stamping or just coming back on AP and apply for EAD will be better. I might loose my current job after May -2008. So I might need to use H-1b or AC21 for job at that time.
(3) For texas how early we need to apply for EAD? And if We apply for EAD and in mean time we are out of country is there any potential problems?
thanks for your input
Note: I have signed up for monthly contribution and participate in IVs aggressive campaigns whenever it is hot.
thanks

Motion to Reopen is of no use here ... re-apply for I-140 through the Firm E - that's the only option.

Dear IV members, I would like to share my GC story with u. I have been in the US since 2001 mostly on and off. I wasnt sure whether I want to permanently live in America and thats why I havent even thought about getting a green card before. Last year I made up my mind and applied for an employment based GC. I started my labor on January 1, 2008 (first ad in the local newspaper) and labor was applied in Fabruary. BTW I am EB2 (rest of the world). My Labor was approved in the end of April. Conccurently filed I-140 and I-485 along with AP and EAD in mid May at TSC (RD May 14 and May 20 respectively, FP done June 28 and no LUDs whatsoever after that, was a little upset over that). My birthday was on Aug 19 and what a huge present I had. I still cannot believe my luck. First on Aug 18 EAD approval followed by my I 140 approval on Aug 22 and 2 hours later I received the magic email: I-485 current status: Card production ordered!!!!!!! Unbelievable! I couldnt believe my eyes. I logged in a logged out of the USCIS website 3 times to make sure that it is not a mistake. 3 days before the approval notices I was talking to my parents telling them that I will probably wait for another 1-2 years and then I got it! No RFE no questions whatsoever. After I saw the email I felt such a relief and sense of freedom. Later in the day I spoke with my lawyer and he couldnt believe that the 485 was approved. To be honest with u I didnt even know the whole process of getting a green card (lawyer was taking care of it) before I stumbled on the Immigration Voice website after a google search. I have followed all of the threads for the last 7-8 months here and I find them extremely helpful and a great source of information. Sorry for the long post and I wish you all to get your green cards from the bottom of my heart. My 8 months are nothing compared to some of you who have been waiting for years so my advice is to spend a lot of money on a good lawyer and hope for the best, the rest of it is in God's hands. Thank you for reading my post and God Bless America!
Congrats and good luck to you .
Nothing personal but here is the irony , most of us here spend lot of money for Green Card and we have very good lawyers to represent us ..
You are fortunate to be ROW , at least on GC process . We wait whole year waiting to become current and unfortunately we will be current only few months and look at how CIS process the files ..No RD,PD order
You filed in May 2008 and they picked your file and adjusted your status in Aug 2008 , where as we all filed in July 07 and we both are current in August and how can they process your file and ahead of all of us ..who are waiting for years and years ...
CIS should bless us to get a GC ...

He is a lawyer not a politician.
Does Hispanic caucus help approve his client applications?
I do not see any big deal in saying this.
Lawyer doesn't always pursue the career of preparing H1b/EB2/3 cases...over the years they look at other positions like lobbying (for which he needs contact and be on good books of politicians), be an influential figure in ILW, AILA etc.
By the way just imagine how much more business amnesty will bring to the lawyers...
12million illegals in US at least. What the downside of EB2/3 in quagmire...more RFE, H1B extension
...more fees.
Try to look at the world from others point of view...it will be easier to understand.

Interesting Poll.
To anyone who elected more than 500K especially millionaires, please share the wisdom !
Almost all of us on this forum are salaried employees; in US for past 6 yrs (average); average salary in last 6 yrs about 95K; average tax uncle Sam puts is 28%; medical/dental/life insurance; some of us have commitment (parents) back homes to take care of.
To put the above in figures:
Average salary for six year: $95,000 * 6 = $570,000
Medical/dental/life insurance: $3,500 * 6 = $21,000
Tax: 28% of (570,000 - 21,000) = $395,280
Expenses (Rent+Food+Vacation etc.): $2000 per month * 72 = $144,000
Net saving: $395,280 - $144,000 = $251,280
$259,280 includes the amount that you may have already remitted to India.
So, given these constraints, I am really interested in knowing how do you extend your source of income to make million dollars?

This yr I need to file jointly. Got married last year and my wife is on H-4. I am told I need to apply for ITIN Number and file via paper only.
Can someone who has gone through this process shed some light? is this something that can be done by an individual?. I have filed taxes before on paper and via websites.
Thx

Self and family filed on 06/25/08, Soft LUD on 07/17/08 and Child status showed as approved on 07/15/08. 07/18/08 status showed as approved. Awaiting approval notice. Surprised at AP renewal approval so fast but I-140/I-485 pending for a year not touched at all!
