Lots More Conan In Brazil! Part 2!
We've seen this cover from As Aventuras Dos Trapalhões before on CROM! (posted by Reis, here), but thanks to Marcos, there's much more to be said about this comic book from Brazil!
First off, why MoConan, you might be asking? Well, I did a little investigating, and it turns out that "moço" is Portuguese for young (or kid), so I suppose the character is something along the lines of "Young Conan the Barbarian"...well technically, Youngnan or Kidnan, but you get the gist.
And then there's the cover artist, one Napoleão Figueiredo. Well it turns out that in the center of this comic is a poster version of the cover, which Marcos was kind enough to photograph for us (below, click to enlarge).
It also just so happens that Napoleão has created other serious Conan artwork, namely some covers for the Brazilian versions of both Conan Saga and The Savage Sword of Conan, a couple that are simply reworked Marvel covers, but a couple others that I don't recognize...you can see them all below too, along with the Marvel equivalents...very nice!
Still more! There's interior artwork, that of Brazilian comic book artist Rogério Soud. Marcos has also sent us a sample of that, which I've gone ahead and translated into English...it's obvious that children are the target audience, but here it is anyway...enjoy! C'mon, I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing you're no spring chicken!
I see that Rogério also has a more serious piece of Conan artwork over on his website (here), and it's pretty darn impressive!
That's Conan on the left btw, why are you looking to the right?
Once again, Mitra's blessings to Marcos for introducing us to this way cool stuff! That's it for today, but stay tuned, a whole lot more from Brazil is coming your way soon!
